Engine Parts back from the Machine Shop
I dropped off the Block, Heads, Crank, Cam, Rods & Pistons off at the machine shop, and about 2 weeks later the work was completed. Received confirmation most everything was new and in great condition. They checked for cracks in the Block and the Heads, none found. 1 cylinder required honing for some surface rust. Crank and Cam were checked as well as bearings, Cam bearings replaced as they needed to be removed to clean the block. Valves were removed from the Heads and it did appear the valves were not all seated properly, so they took care of that. The Crank and Cam races were buffed out. The report they gave me is that it is all ready to go.
I was hoping to install the Cam and Crank over a 4-day Christmas break. But I discovered the Cam bearings were not installed with the oil hold aligned with the Crank oil galley. I'll be calling the machine shop today to see about getting that fixed. If I hadn't caught that, the cam would have not been oiled correctly when the engine was running.
